Traveling thailand for the first time

Okay so I thought I'd write this whilst sitting under my mosquito net in Cambodia after staying in thailand for four weeks previous.

A quick list of things I have noted that I didn't learn from the many blogs and forums I read. This is my opinion of my experience.

1.dont bother visiting the south of thailand or the Islands.
- it's too touristy, it's too loud, it has lost the magic

2.dont get your visa renewed in ayutayah.
-it's long, it's effort, the officers are rude.
-the hotel has to click and send your details to immigration for them to check that you are staying local.
(Most hotels do not seem to do this) making it 100 times harder to renew your visa.

3.rent a motorbike/moped if you are staying on koh Sumai.
-always wear a helmet. (Your insurance will probably only cover you in an accident if you have a helmet).
-drive slow and cautious (bigger vehicles have right of road)
-you can visit waterfalls and mummified Buddha and other attractions for free if you drive yourself.
- navigate whole island in two hours.
-North beaches are the best. Lamai is full of seaweed.

4.do not point your feet at a person/Buddha/ monk anything.
-feet are lowest part of your body seen as impure. It's disrespectful.

5.wear a tshirt.
-it's disrespectful to show a lot of skin. Wear shorts and a tshirt take a thin sarong with you if you want to visit temple or walk through village. (This isn't england or America or Australia this is a budhist respectful country)

6.respect locals.
-(especially ladyboys. They are human too. We all bleed the same).

7.dont walk around with a beer in your hand.
(You look a fool, you are a fool)

8. If on any form of transport be quiet.
-especially mini bus, people pay extra to have aircon and some rest, no one wants to hear your conversation (especially Spanish. The Spanish seem to talk so loud ).

9.dont put your feet on the seats.
-it's rude. Obviously.

10.dont sit on tables.
- it's rude. Obviously.

11.dont play music in your room.
- if you want to be a dj go ask the local club. If you want to listen to music go to a bar.
The room is for sleep and quiet.
(read a book arsehole).

12. Everyone is in the same boat. We are all shy wandering strangers. Treat everyone how you want to be treated.

13. Don't smoke weed in a country where it is illegal.
-seriously have some respect.
(Go to amsterdam and don't come back).

14. Be respectful. Seriously if you don't respect other things or religions or people or culture. Why go traveling. Want a beach go to Spain.

15. Learn something new. Everyday.
- pick up a new book from a hostel. But leave your old one there. (Don't be selfish).
